SHRM Hands Out Human Resource Prizes

By Doug Caverly

It's always nice to have someone to look up to, and thanks to a round of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) awards, human resource professionals can now choose between 15 potential role models.  All of these individuals recently made smart, recession-appropriate moves.

As explained by a formal release, "$1,000 prizes were awarded to individual HR professionals whose HR strategies produced a measurable and positive impact on business operations."  Most of these strategies focused on avoiding layoffs and improving healthcare options.

Laurence G. O'Neil, the SHRM's president and CEO, stated as a result, "I salute these 15 outstanding HR professionals for their leadership and bold thinking to tackle some of the toughest workplace challenges caused by this recession.  These fresh ideas and innovative programs clearly demonstrate HR's role in creating smart and sophisticated business strategies in response to the growing economic crisis."

Who knows?  Maybe next year, you can take whatever you've learned and accomplished and earn one of those $1,000 prizes for yourself.
